We are taking reading response journals into the 21st Century! No more pencil and paper journal entries! Each week, you will be expected to post a response to your reading material on our class blog. Here are some things to remember about writing a reading response journal:
- you can write about the book you are reading independently, a book you are reading at home, or the topic we discussed in one of our reading lessons
- Each entry should share what your thoughts are/were about the reading you're doing
- Summarize what you've read so far this week (so the rest of know a little bit about what you're responding to!)
- CROP-QV is a good way to make sure you're doing an in-depth response post
- Explain WHY for each of the CROP-QV letters that you use in your post
- C- Connection (this reminds me of when . . . .)
- R-Reaction(This made me feel . . .)
- O- Opinion (I think . . . .)
- P-Prediction (I think this will happen . . . .)
- Q - Question (This makes me wonder about. . . OR write a fat question that you would use in a literature circle discussion
- V- Visualization (When I was reading, I could really see/hear/smell . . .)
Once you post your response, your classmates and I will be able to post comments about what you wrote.

Andrew, I will start expecting posts by the end of the week. I am sending home the permission form in tomorrow's Tuesday folder. You can go ahead and post if you'd like to. That way, the other students can see an example from a student. Would you mind showing them how to log on tomorrow afternoon (and again on Thursday if we need a refresher)?

your back at school, did you come up with the idea to do blogger for responce jornals andrew, or did ms. E
TB - I can answer that. I've been wanting to do this all year . . . but I'm OLD and was a little scared of blogging (just because I don't understand it all that well and I've never done it before)! When I found out that Andrew was so good at managing and setting up blogs, I asked him to teach me. So, it was my idea but Andrew was the one who got it started for me . . .
I haven't done it either, but this is like the funnest thing ever!
One reason that blogging is so fun is because the whole class is involved and we are all communicating through the internet. Meanwhile, if you create your own blog and start posting, it wont be that fun because you wont be interacting with people.
